Electropolishing is the state-of-the-art surface finishing process for vascular implants, such as metal stents. The process removes burrs, heat affected zones and micro-cracks resulting from the pre-processing steps, providing excellent edge rounding and biocompatibility of the stent struts which minimizes the potential for lumen trauma. Nevertheless, the major challenge of the process is its effectiveness.
A Computer Aided Analysis (CAA) may serve in this case as fast and robust performance analysis of an electropolishing process.
Elsyca has a long track record in computer aided engineering (CAE) projects that comprise a computer simulation of, for instance, the as-is electropolishing process performance at specific process conditions. Such an analysis has been executed for ADMEDES GmbH, a global manufacturer of self-expandable Nitinol stents and other lifesaving devices.
“I want to thank all of you from the support center for all your support and help during the last couple of months. I think without you I wouldn’t have been able to generate the results I generated over the last few months. Rarely have I experienced a support like yours, which is so fast and determined to fix problems and help their customers out. So just keep this up in the future!” – wrote Julian Grolig from Admedes GmbH.
