Tooling Design

What services do we offer?

Designing the right tooling in view of a carefree process performance (meeting specification, achieving quality products, minimizing scrap) is a tedious job, typically done by the plating engineer based on experience and using a trial-and-error approach.
Elsyca’s Advanced Engineering team uses its validated 3D software simulation platform to optimize the selection, shape and position of the tooling components for improving the global electrochemical process. This engineering design work is performed by experienced electrochemical engineers, taking into account manufacturability, cost and maintenance aspects.

The outcome is a thoroughly engineered tooling set:

  • insulating shields (screens);
  • identification of insulating surfaces that do not have to be plated (waxing, taping);
  • auxiliary or conforming anodes (fed by an individual rectifier);
  • current robbers either mounted on the part (= ‘on-board’) or on the rack;
  • eductors or similar forced flow jet systems;
  • Elsyca can even provide you with the complete design of the rack skeleton and all required tooling for e.g. electroplating purposes.

Elsyca delivers the technical drawings up to the final hardware. No prototype part has to be sent to Elsyca, all engineering is done based on the CAD model.

What value do we bring?

An optimal tooling set:

  • can be designed and built upfront and be ready when the first parts arrive at the plating supplier;
  • will accelerate the time-to-market by avoiding trial-and-error runs;
  • will ensure a uniform current density distribution thereby optimizing the process quality and reducing rejects;
  • can include design-right-first-time racks for the electroplating industry.

In conclusion, the design of tooling using computer simulations enables design-right-first-time and will take away many of the concerns and stress related to start-up of production.
