Computer Based Training

Electroplating training software for US Department of Defense

Elsyca teamed up with the National Center of Manufacturing Science (NCMS) to develop a software training tool aimed to improve the skills and performance of plating technicians in the MRO shops throughout the Department of Defense (DOD). The software was first installed at the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD), where many plating processes are used in the repair and overhaul of military rotary wing aircraft, such as Chinooks and Black Hawks. Click here for more background information.

The Computer Based Training Tool comprises a fully detailed 3D virtual plating tank with an available ‘palette’ of plating tools such as current robbers, anodes and shields.

The software comprises a library of components from which the trainee can choose.

Tooling can then be selected, dragged and dropped exactly where it is required. Once the tooling has been assembled, the trainee chooses the plating operating conditions and selects the ‘calculate’ button.
The result is a 3D color map of plating thickness about the chosen part – clearly demonstrating the effectiveness of the tooling assembly. The trainee can evaluate the results, further manipulate the tooling and rerun the simulation in order to achieve an improved result.
