Consulting & Engineering services

Over the years, Elsyca has built up a long track record in consulting services for electrochemical cell design and optimisation.

 

In general, a consulting project is mainly subdivided in 3 subsequent stages.

 

In a first stage (measurement stage), the electrolyte bath characteristics of the focussed process are determined (see physico-chemical measurements). These data are required as input for the process simulation tools.

 

In a second stage (validation stage), the process is simulated for the actual industrial cell/plating tank configuration, or for a pilot reactor set-up, using the Elsyca software tools. This includes building the entire CAD reactor description and gathering all relevant process parameters. Simulated results (e.g. layer thickness distribution, surface chararcteristics) are compared to experimental results.

 

A third stage (optmisation stage) covers process optimisation through improved cell design (e.g. anodes, screens, current thieves) or process parameter tuning (e.g. DC or pulsed current parameters, electrolyte flow rate and inlet/outlet design) towards industrial specifications.

 

Elsyca’s consulting services consist of a flexible and entirely customer based approach, with the possibility for the customer to decide after the second stage whether the optimisation work has to be performed by Elsyca, or whether all available process knowledge, including relevant Elsyca software tools, should be transferred to the customer, in order to enable the customer to perform the optimisation job in house.
