Gerard Van Acker (°1943) became President-CEO of Gimv in 1980. Until January 2001, he was also chairman of the executive committee of Gimv and served as director of several companies and institutions.
Between 1978 and 1980, Gerard was Chief of Staff of the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister for Economic Affairs of Belgium and, between 1972 and 1978, he was Chief of Staff of the chairman of the National Council for Economic Affaires. Gerard also served as first deputy to the Bureau of Planning of Belgium for 6 years.
On January 12, 2001, Gerard tendered his resignation to the Board, following his departure from the Gimv. Now he is acting as a member of the Board of several listed and non-listed companies.
